Evenly or proportionally divide dinner and drinks across friends with 1-click Venmo text.
Grand total $141.60 split 3 ways
Choose an equal split or split by what each person ordered:
Equal Split divides the bill evenly. Itemized / By Person lets each person enter what they ordered.
Add the bill total or each person's subtotal, pick 15%, 18%, 20% or 25%, and optionally add sales tax.
Each person sees what to pay. Copy the breakdown and paste it into a group chat or a Venmo request.
An even split is quick, but it isn't always fair:
In itemized mode, each person pays tax and tip in proportion to their own subtotal, so the person who ordered a salad doesn't pay toward someone else's steak.
Splitting by percentage can leave a stray cent. The calculator puts any rounding penny on the last person so the shares add up to the bill exactly.
Give each person a name, add or remove friends, and copy a clean list of who owes what.
When everyone ordered about the same, switch to Equal Split and just set the number of people.
When each split mode makes sense:
Alex had $50 of food, Jordan $40 and Taylor $30. With an 18% tip on $120, Alex pays $9 of the tip, Jordan $7.20 and Taylor $5.40.
Everyone shared the same pizzas. Equal Split divides the total and tip by four in one step.
Two people had cocktails and two had water. Itemized mode keeps the drinks on the right people's shares.
Colleagues paying on their own cards can give the server an exact amount to charge each card.
Both modes are in the same calculator. Here's when to use each:
| Feature / Capability | Itemized / By Person | Equal Split |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Orders that differ a lot in price | Shared dishes or similar orders |
| How tax and tip are shared | In proportion to each person's subtotal | Divided evenly |
| What you enter | A name and subtotal for each person | Bill total and number of people |
| Rounding | Penny difference goes to the last person | Penny difference goes to the last person |
